Leaving the river behind, we drive to the stunning Alexandra Lookout. The view opens dramatically: the mouth of the Daintree River below, rainforest stretching toward Cape Tribulation, and—on a clear day—the coastline leading all the way back to Port Douglas. It’s one of the region’s most impressive vantage points and a perfect moment to pause before heading deeper into the forest.

Next, your guide leads you through the lush rainforest along the Jindalba Boardwalk. This is a relaxed and informative walk where the Daintree’s story becomes tangible: ancient trees, hidden forest sounds, and the possibility of spotting a cassowary. Your guide interprets the landscape in a way that brings clarity to what you’re seeing—quiet, unhurried, and deeply engaging.

Exceptional Lunch at Silky Oaks Lodge

We then take the ferry back across the Daintree River and make our way to Silky Oaks Lodge for a signature dining experience. The Treehouse Restaurant sits high above the Mossman River, with open-air views of flowing water and surrounding rainforest. Mossman Gorge — Guided Walk & Optional Swim

After lunch, we continue to Mossman Gorge for a guided walk along an easily accessible boardwalk, past enormous granite boulders and through pristine rainforest. The option to swim in the cool, crystal-clear waters of the Mossman River is available if you choose — a refreshing and memorable way to end the day.

Your experience begins with an exclusive 1-hour private wildlife cruise on the Daintree River. With no other passengers onboard, you have uninterrupted views and personalised interpretation. This is your chance to observe crocodiles in their natural habitat, spot kingfishers, herons and azure flashes of birds in flight, and learn about the mangrove ecosystem that supports this unique environment.

Next, we drive above the forest canopy to Alexandra Lookout. Your guide will point out the Daintree River mouth, Snapper Island, and — on clear days — views stretching all the way back toward Port Douglas. It’s one of the most striking panoramas in the region.

After morning tea, we continue deeper into the rainforest to Cape Tribulation, where two World Heritage areas meet. Your guide leads a relaxed beach walk and shares the significance of this remarkable place: its rich history, and its unique role where the rainforest meets the reef.

Rainforest Creek Swim

A refreshing swim in a crystal-clear rainforest creek follows. The cool water, shaded by the canopy above, is a perfect mid-day reset in one of the region’s most peaceful natural settings.

Lunch at a rainforest restaurant

Enjoy a leisurely lunch at Heritage Lodge, with a menu offering something for every palate — from local fish to hearty classics. It’s a relaxed, tropical dining experience surrounded by forest.

Guided Rainforest Walk

After lunch, we wander along the Jindalba Boardwalk. Your guide will share insights into the surrounding ecosystem, explain the adaptations of key species, and help you keep an eye out for cassowaries or other wildlife.

Ferry Crossing & Mossman Gorge

We return across the Daintree Ferry before heading to Mossman Gorge for a guided rainforest walk. This final chapter of your day includes towering trees, enormous granite boulders, and clear flowing streams.

Next, we travel deeper into the rainforest toward Cape Tribulation. Your guide will lead you onto the beach where two UNESCO-listed worlds meet — the Wet Tropics Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef. Learn about the history, resilience, and cultural significance of this extraordinary location while taking in the sweeping views of coconut-lined sand and turquoise water.

Rainforest Creek Swim

From here we head to a beautiful freshwater rainforest creek. The clear, cool water is the perfect place to unwind — step in for a refreshing swim or relax along the edge while immersed in the sounds of the forest.

Lunch is served at the tranquil Heritage Lodge, surrounded by lush canopy and flowing creek lines. Choose from a menu that caters to all tastes — fresh, generous, relaxed dining in the heart of the rainforest.

Guided Rainforest Walk

After lunch we explore the Jindalba Boardwalk. This is where the rainforest truly shows its age, with enormous buttress roots, ancient cycads and the chance to encounter wildlife such as musky rat-kangaroos, Boyd’s dragons, or even a cassowary if luck is on your side. Your guide will bring the forest’s stories and ecological marvels to life as you wander beneath its ancient layers.

We return south for lunch at the Mossman Gorge Café, known for its relaxed rainforest setting and menu inspired by Indigenous flavours. Walk & Swim at Mossman Gorge

After lunch, follow your guide on an easy, scenic walk along the Mossman Gorge Boardwalk. Massive granite boulders sit in crystal-clear waters, rainforest towers above, and sunlight sparkles across the creek. You’ll have time for an optional swim—a refreshing, invigorating dip in one of the most beautiful natural swimming spots in Far North Queensland.

Return to Port Douglas

At approximately 3:00pm, we return you to your accommodation in Port Douglas. You’ll arrive relaxed, refreshed, and carrying a deeper appreciation of the Daintree—its landscapes, wildlife, and the incredible natural stories woven throughout the day.
